Manteca, California, January 2, 2004 - Users can now keep up with the latest news and information from their favorite iMedia Associates Clients web sites, using RSS enabled news readers.
|
Originally developed by Netscape in 1999, RSS (which can stand for RDF Site Summary, Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format that allows web developers the ability to syndicate news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.
iMedia Associates is pleased to announce the current releases of the eZ Publish Content Management System support the syndication of site content via RSS. This allows users with any RSS enabled news reader, to receive automatic notification of updates to the eZ Publish enabled web site, delivered directly to their desktop. The notification contains a brief description and a link to the full article.
For site administrators, no special action is required to syndicate information via RSS. They simply update the sites content using their existing administration tools, and eZ Publish takes care of the syndication. An entire site can be syndicated, or just a subsection of the site.
"We are pleased to offer this capability to our eZ Publish clients. We think this will be of particular benefit to our non profit clients and our clients with large amounts of dynamic content" stated Robert Causey, President of iMedia Associates.
